Pride in America

I have just finished watching the inauguration of President Obama. I feel like I did when Kennedy was sworn in. Hopeful, that this nation can all come together.
It was history!!!!
If you watched the speech, leave a comment and tomorrow evening someone will win a large amount of Heidi Grace products.

Only got to hear it as I was at school w/ my 4yo for speech. I continue to be hopeful, simply because this man is so intelligent, and what an orator!

While I did not vote for Obama, I was glued to the television. After all today history was made. And I am proud to live in a country where freedom abounds. And how awesome to be living when such a historical event takes place.

We homeschool, so my children (4 of them) sat down & watched it. The scrapbooker in me kicked in, and I took pics of the kids along with some pics of the tv, to remember this moment in history.

I just HAD to watch history in the making today! Too bad my husband is at work until late... but I recorded it for him. What an inspiring event!

I watched and made my poor 15 year old sit and watch. I wanted him to see and be part of this historical moment. I've been comparing the same thing to Kennedy. Everyone freaked out when Kennedy was elected because he was Catholic...remember? He did a lot of good. I only pray we can all work hard and be part of a great history.

It was a history making moment. I was blessed to sit down and watch it with my children and answer their questions. They were all in awe over the crowd.

Wish I could have seen it. We had to give ITED's at school thanks to the weather last week, plus no cable in my new classroom and the internet sites that were prodcasting the whole thing, are blocked. Go figure. A school that wants the teachers to use more technology, yet blocks stuff and doesn't allow us to see History in the making. Hoping my daughters saw it at their school

Hi Maxine, I watched on my computer at work. The cables and airwaves must have been overloaded, because the live stream kept pausing. I did feel like I was something powerful and life changing.

We are a homeschool family and did a study on the Presidential Election so watching the Inauguration completed our study.
My children were truly in awe as they pondered the fact that they were actually watching history in the making. My oldest, 13y.o, commented on how they all can tell their children and grandchildren where they were and how they watched the first African American be elected (last year) and sworn into Presidency (today)!!
AMAZING!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Blessings,

I didn't get to see all of it but my work had a tv set up in our break room so I got to see the swearing in. Awesome!

Yes! Hubby and I watched together. President Obama is an excellent speaker and draws you in. Both of the kids said they were able to watch while at school, and I was so happy for that because Jake, my 10yr old son wanted to see it so badly! Though he missed some of the speech because he had to go to lunch so he wants to try and catch it and tape it. hey..youtube..duh! Just thought of that!

Thanks for the chance Maxine!

Wasn't it something? The sea of people waiting to view history was something else!! A day people will remember always. AND there was not a single arrest made that was inauguration-related - isn't that something that 1.5 million people could be in one place and ALL get along? An amazing day, to be sure.

I was at the dentist and watched some of the parade.....I'm Canadian so I don't know if I qualify for this RAK but it was definitely a historical moment.

I'm still dizzy from winning your recent RAK, but I have to tell you why this day was so important at our house. My eleven year-old grandson is African American. He lost his daddy about 5 years ago. He has good male role models in my husband and adult son, but he needs African American role models, too. Seeing that a Black man can be President of our country! Wow! That doesn't just raise the bar, it removes it!

I had CNN on all day long. What a change for our country! Hope things change for the good for all of us!

My television has been on the entire day & part of the evening. I was very touched by all the speeches, the entertainment, the parade and even segments of the different inauguration balls. Don't laugh, but I even took a few pictures of the TV screen as the events were going on so I can scrapbook them later.
